Chunky Belts

Hey everyone!

I am really excited to share my latest obsession with you: Chunky Belts! I love to use them to dress up a basic shirt, they work for so many outfits. Whether it is to add the finishing touch or the main focus, these are my favorites!

I love the layering that they used on this. Plus, the braided background is great when you want a touch more detail!

Okay, this one is... well... different! I think the basic knot on such a large belt is super chic, and it is that perfect staple that you need in your closet!

If you are looking for an easy way to add a little color to your outfit, here it is! The olive combined with the teal is the perfect way to add a splash of color to any ensemble!

This may be a bit much, but if you want your belt to be the main focus, then it is perfect! The large flowers will add a whimsical spin to your plain shirt or dress.

I hope you enjoyed, tell me in the comments if you are loving or hating the wide belt trend! We are thinking about doing a Forever Fuchsia beauty closet and storage post, would you be interested? Thanks for reading!

Paint Pots

Hey Everyone!

Today I am really excited to share with you one of my favorite products from mac: Paint Pots! Paint pots are cream eyeshadows that are amazing bases for many looks. These are perfect to put down first just for color or to prime your eyes. Let's get started!

Here is an overview of my favorite paint pots! I chose my top six because I wanted to provide options! Some of them are limited edition, I just wanted to introduce the products and show how great they are!

The first one is my most used one. This is bare study paint pot, and it is a light beige with a gold sheen. This goes on as a really soft gold, and can easily be blended out or packed on for different effects. This makes the perfect lid color!
Next is Nubile paint pot. Nubile was limited edition but it may still be available at some stores or counters. This works really well for pink looks, it runs around a pink/orange.
Rubenesque is one of Mac's best sellers. It is described as a golden peach with a gold pearl. How pretty is that? This works well on its own as well as a base.
Let's Skate is a soft pink with glitter! This is gold glitter that applies evenly and is perfect when you want something extra but not too extreme!
Treasure hunt is a softly frosted yellow with a hint of gold. The gold only adds a little sheen, and its works really well if you want to warm up your eye look! I love using this as a base for tropical looks.

Imaginary is a navy with a purple pearl. This is amazing for a smoky eye or just as a liner! This is easily blended out, so you can make it is light or dark as you want.

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day everyone! In honor of Earth day I came up with some Earth Day inspired nails! If you want to learn how, then read on! For this you will need orange, blue, green, and yellow nail polish. Sorry the pictures are so blurry, I don't know what happened.

First take an earthy color. It can be a light blue or a light green. Paint that color on every nail.
Now the first design is flowers.

For this you can take a Sally Hanson nail art pen (they work the best)and draw little flowers on every other nail. If you want, you can do each flower a different color, or do a different flower each time! I don't now if I know that many different types of flowers though...

So after you have done that, take out a yellow nail polish. Dip a q-tip into it, and then make a small cirlce on your nail. Then dip it into the nail polish again, and do sticks sticking out of the circle. Then I suggest filling in the circle with yellow. if you haven't already guessed, it's a sun.

This next step is a little tricky. Make sure the yellow is pretty dry, they dip another q-tip into some orange nail polish. Then do an orange polka dots on the sun if you want.

I hope you like your Earth Day Nails! Be sure to follow our blog and comment!

Purple Perfection

Hey Everyone!

I am really excited to share a new look with you! A few posts back, I said I was obsessed with my new smokey eye using purples and neutrals. Here it is!

First, prime your eyes using your favorite eye primer. Mine is Urban Decay primer potion, it makes your shadows stay on all day! One time I went swimming with a teal and gold tropical look on, it didn't budge! Also, it makes eyeshadows apply easier and it also helps blends the product out.
My first eyeshadow I used was all that glitters by mac. It is one of their best sellers due to it's natural sheen and high pigmentation. I used a 239 brush to apply this all over my lid. Be sure to cover the inner corners too, they often get missed!

Next I took Plum Dressing eyeshadow by mac and applied this to my crease. Plum dressing is very sheer, so I lightly sprayed a little water on my brush to intensify the pigmentation in it. If you want it more dramatic, you can take a little and blend up to "smoke" it out more. This will give added definition to the eye.

Next I took Embark with the 239 brush again and placed a little of this on my outer corner. To help blend, I placed a little of this into my crease, creating the perfect purple!

In the picture below, I used Blanc Type to highlight my brow bone.

For this step, any eyeliner will do, I just wanted to go with the theme! You can use the top one, which is purple dash by mac. Or the bottom one is Ransom by Urban Decay. I love these!
To complete this look, you need the thick eyelashes! Mac's false lash mascara extends to the tips of your lashes, making them full and long. This has a more of a matte black look to it, so it defines your lashes even more! What I love about this mascara is you can control the amount you use. You can go from natural to red carpet worthy in one swipe.
Because I used such a strong eye for this look, everything else needs to be softened up. Instead of using a blush, I opted for Nars Laguna bronzer. It gives a natural tan color with a hint of a gold sheen. I used 189 with this to warm up my cheeks and a 168 to slightly contour the sides.
We also need to use a soft lip, but I wanted something moisturizing. I used Clinique's Chubby Stick in whopping watermelon for a light pink glossy look. This is very natural and so perfect for this look.
These are the brushes that I used for this look, all from mac. Here are the numbers from left to right: 217, 239, 224, 168, 189. The 189 is discontinued, so any large powder brush will be perfect for this look!

Thank you so much for reading, I had a ton of fun coming up with this look! Make sure to follow and feel free to comment with any questions! Also, do you like it better when we take our own pictures? I went back to my old ways and took my own for this! Check out some of my first posts to see the ones I took in my DIY photo studio!

High Heels!!!

Ok, so even though walking around in super high heels may not be easy,  but it can look amazing. So I was looking at  some crazy heels, and I was definelty not disapointed.
The first pair is this super bright Fuchsia pair. It is sure to add a pop of color to any outift.  This would be cute with a plae pink dress, or with white dress these would really pop out.

This really doesn't need much explaining. It's about as crazy as you can get. Unless your Lady Gaga of course.

So I found these pictures on Bing and Google images. But what surprised me most was that there were many "sneaker higheels". I really don't know if they are actually being sold somewhere or not.

Royal Wedding Hat!

Last summer I was at a store in Nantucket, and I saw the craziest hat. It was love at first sight. It has 4 big pink loops at the top, and then a pretty pale pink rose on the side. Then there is lace around the rose. So I ended up actually getting the hat. Now this is not a hat that I would put on and go down to the coffee shop. Its a very unique hat. It kind of reminds me of Princess Beatrice's hat at the royal wedding. I have never actually had the chance to wear it somewhere, but who knows, maybe there will be another royal wedding and I'll be invited...

Although its not nearly that crazy. But I think It would have fit in very well at the royal wedding. Probably my favorite hat there is the first one in the second row. Yes, it's the queens hat.

Arbonne

Hey Everyone!

Today I want to do a post on a brand that really understands what we are trying to achieve with our eco-friendly project.

I was doing some research on the brand and Arbonne means "good things from the earth." Plus, the brand started in 1975 where Peter Morok was testing his products. I usually don't go for all of the mineralized based brands, but instead of focusing their message on mineralized products, they focus on natural ones.

I stopped looking at Bare Minerals products when I looked at their ingredients. They were okay, but I compared them to the list of ingredients on mac's mineralized line. Remember, mac is not even a mineral based line of products. Bare Mineral's power contained 7 minerals. Mac's Mineralized skin finish contained 77. Hmm.. which to choose?

This is why I am so impressed with this company. They have taken on a new approach and have a really great message.

Not only does it have cosmetics, it has a great variety of skincare and hair products! Also, if you are in the market for some brushes but don't want to pay the mac prices, they have a nice brush set. I have not tried these out but I may order a set. You can never have enough brushes, or at least that's what I keep telling myself...

Arbonne really has a great line of products, I can't wait to try some of their stuff out. Be sure to leave a comment and follow us, also tell me what your experiences with this brand have been! Thanks for reading, I will post an update on this post soon on any new news!

Makeup Idea!

I was bored today so when I got home I decided to try out some new makeup looks. I found one that I really like, so I thought I would show it to you!

First, I put the eyeshadow Yogurt from MAC cosmetics all over the lid. Then I took the eyeshadow Samoa Silk, and added it to the outer corners and the crease. Make sure to blend them together. I applied this with a 239 brush.

The first one is Yogurt and the second one is Samoa Silk.

Then, I used a black mascara. I suggest using one that gives your eyelashes more volume. This is great because it really pops with the light eyeshadow.

Then for lipgloss I couldn't decide between Pop or Pout from Smashbox. Pop is more subtle, but if you want to be crazy go for Pout! I like to wear Pout on the weekends or when I'm in a very pink mood. However, I prefer Pop because it matches most lip colors, so it just adds some sparkle.

Then voila! You now have a custom makeover by Glitter Girl!

Water Pollution

Hey everyone!

We want to address an issue in a post that we feel very strongly about. This issue is water pollution, and we think we have a solution to this! We are working on a project and our goal is to come up with a solution, and ours focuses on chemical pollution. We did some research, and it shows that one of the main water polluters is chemicals found in cleaning products. This is such an easy fix, but the problem is the eco-friendly cleaning products are much more expensive then the regular ones. We made a line of eco-friendly cleaning products that are a lot less expensive, and use natural ingredients!

Right next to the large product is the samples that we gave to our teacher!

So the reason we did cleaning products is because it was the best starting place for us. We are thinking about making a prototype line of skin care products and even some hair products, we can not wait for that!

These are just the basics, and we added some natural items from the outdoors to make them small pretty good! This explains the floating leaves and flower petals...

All Purpose Cleaner

This product contains the amazing sent of catmint, and it works! It gives a light wash while buffing away any stains. One amazing thing about these products is that they are much cheaper than the leading brands! For instance, the all purpose cleaner would cost 0.78, and we would still get a profit. The leading brand's price is 2 dollars.

Dishwasher Soap

Two words. Major Bubbles. This Dishwasher Soap works just as well as the leading brands!
 Toilet Bowl Cleaner

We had to test this one out a lot, because it sadly kept exploding on us.  Just as a warning, never mix a cup of vinegar and a cup of baking soda in a small bowl. It doesn't end well. We did make it work though!
 Window Cleaner

Our window cleaner has our fresh catmint scent, and it is very effective.
 Oven Cleaner

This has salt particles inside to "exfoliate" any harsh stains in your oven!
 Brush Cleanser

This is comparable to mac's quality. We actually made our own brush shampoo with some eco-friendly products, so it works as a spot cleaner too! You may think that there are chemicals in it, but that scent is a conditioner for the brush fibers.

We would like to thank our amazing teacher for helping us with this, we can honestly say that we have never felt this strongly about a cause, or had this much fun with a project!   Thank you for showing us that there is more to life then the latest mac collection or a new line of hair products, we can make room for eco-friendly products on that list! Thanks for reading, and feel free to ask us any questions in the comments!

My Curling Technique

Hey Everyone!

I am really excited to attempt to explain my odd way that I curl my hair! It is strange, but it works. Most people start from the bottom and curl up, but you never really get the curl near the top because the heat of the curling iron doesn't get all the way through. This technique will help you achieve perfect curls every time!

To start off, you will have to use a curling iron with a larger barrel. It doesn't have to be huge, but anything 3/4 of an inch and larger will be perfect.  The reason you can't use a super small one is because you need your hair to work with the clamp release, and if it is wound too tightly against the barrel, it won't work. The thinner your hair is, the smaller you want to go so it will hold better.

Okay, now this is the hard part. It may take a little bit longer at first, but you will pick it up quickly. My hair is about 4 inches past my shoulders and about medium when it comes to thickness, and it used to take me around 20 minutes when I curled it the usual way. Now I can get it all done in about five minutes, and it looks so much better!

  • So the first step is to get your first section of hair. Start up at the top, just don't get it too close and burn yourself!
  • Once the curling iron is near the top, release the clamp and twist some more hair onto the barrel.
  • You don't have to have the full section done yet, but repeat the previous step until the the piece is curled.
  • And that's it!
What I like to do is to keep my index finger on the clamp releaser and just keep squeezing it! This distributes the heat throughout the entire section of hair, making it very full and giving a ton of volume.

Honestly, I don't use any products on my hair with this. It hold all day without anything! You may want to use a little hairspray if they usually fall out really quickly on you, but this works. Think about it, when you curl from the bottom, most of the heat is at the bottom. Using this method, it is distributed all over, making it last longer by not weighing down the bottom!

After I do this, I brush it out a little with a vented paddle brush. This means that it will lightly loosen your curls to make these huge waves! Believe me, it works!

Thanks for reading, tell me in the comments if this works for you! I love it, it saves me a ton of time in the morning and hold all day! Be sure to follow and comment, also tell me what posts you want to see next!

Concealer Camouflage!

Hey everyone!

I was working on a purple and gold smoky eye yesterday, (by the way, all that glitters and plum dressing are ah-mazing together!) and saw that I had not done enough to cover up my dark under eye circles. Not only does it run in the family, but I had around four hours of sleep last night because I stayed up waaay to late working on this power point the past couple of nights. Anyways, I think it was worth it, the power point is really cool!

My point is, there are some steps that you can add to your beauty routine to make you look like you got a happy eight hours of sleep....

First is a brightener and a primer. My favorite is Smashbox Photo Op under eye brightener, it has a slight sheen to it so when your face hits the light, it makes a reflection, making you look more awake! Plus, This does not wash out your face in pictures as some products with a shimmer in it do.

My favorite concealer is Mac's Select Cover Up. This is always what I use to start off with because there is truly no texture to it. It gives medium to full coverage without looking too thick or fake and blends in perfectly. This product does run a bit light, so I would test it out or look at some swatches before purchasing. I an usually in a mac nc20, and this is a little light for me, but it works because I only use mine for undereye circles.

Mac's Mineralized Skin Finish Natural is a lifesaver. You may have heard me rave about this in previous posts, but I adore this. It gives you the perfect amount of coverage without looking like a powder, and it still lets the natural glow of your skin show through while controlling oils and staying on all day! For this, I go from a light medium to a light plus depending on what time of the year it is. If you are looking for a pressed powder that looks super natural with buildable coverage, here it is.

Thanks for reading, and comment below on what posts you want me to do next! Also, what is your go to routine for undereye circles? Is anyone as obsessed with the Mineralized Skin Finish as I am? Also, fell free to ask me any product questions in the comments!

Hot Hot Hot Hot Pink!

In my nail polish collection, I have waaaaay too many dull colors. Infact, I don't really have any super bright nail polish at all. So, for the past week or so I have been on the hunt to find a super bright hot pink, and believe it or not, OPI doesn't have what I'm looking for. I also checked out Essie, but that didn't have it either. Then, amazingly I think I found it. It's from a company I haven't really ever heard of before. It's from New York Nails.
I think it would be perfect if it was only a little lighter. It's too dark. But then I also found this one.But the issue is, I want it to be lighter!
But then, I decided to look at the OPI website one more time, and I think I found it!
Its called Paz-itively Hot Bright Pink. It doesn't look very bright in the picture, but the name of it says it's bright, so I hope it ends up super bright on my nails, but I'll have to wait and see. If you have any suggestions, please comment and tell me!
Bye for now!
