My Curling Technique

Hey Everyone!

I am really excited to attempt to explain my odd way that I curl my hair! It is strange, but it works. Most people start from the bottom and curl up, but you never really get the curl near the top because the heat of the curling iron doesn't get all the way through. This technique will help you achieve perfect curls every time!

To start off, you will have to use a curling iron with a larger barrel. It doesn't have to be huge, but anything 3/4 of an inch and larger will be perfect.  The reason you can't use a super small one is because you need your hair to work with the clamp release, and if it is wound too tightly against the barrel, it won't work. The thinner your hair is, the smaller you want to go so it will hold better.

Okay, now this is the hard part. It may take a little bit longer at first, but you will pick it up quickly. My hair is about 4 inches past my shoulders and about medium when it comes to thickness, and it used to take me around 20 minutes when I curled it the usual way. Now I can get it all done in about five minutes, and it looks so much better!

  • So the first step is to get your first section of hair. Start up at the top, just don't get it too close and burn yourself!
  • Once the curling iron is near the top, release the clamp and twist some more hair onto the barrel.
  • You don't have to have the full section done yet, but repeat the previous step until the the piece is curled.
  • And that's it!
What I like to do is to keep my index finger on the clamp releaser and just keep squeezing it! This distributes the heat throughout the entire section of hair, making it very full and giving a ton of volume.

Honestly, I don't use any products on my hair with this. It hold all day without anything! You may want to use a little hairspray if they usually fall out really quickly on you, but this works. Think about it, when you curl from the bottom, most of the heat is at the bottom. Using this method, it is distributed all over, making it last longer by not weighing down the bottom!

After I do this, I brush it out a little with a vented paddle brush. This means that it will lightly loosen your curls to make these huge waves! Believe me, it works!

Thanks for reading, tell me in the comments if this works for you! I love it, it saves me a ton of time in the morning and hold all day! Be sure to follow and comment, also tell me what posts you want to see next!

Concealer Camouflage!

Hey everyone!

I was working on a purple and gold smoky eye yesterday, (by the way, all that glitters and plum dressing are ah-mazing together!) and saw that I had not done enough to cover up my dark under eye circles. Not only does it run in the family, but I had around four hours of sleep last night because I stayed up waaay to late working on this power point the past couple of nights. Anyways, I think it was worth it, the power point is really cool!

My point is, there are some steps that you can add to your beauty routine to make you look like you got a happy eight hours of sleep....

First is a brightener and a primer. My favorite is Smashbox Photo Op under eye brightener, it has a slight sheen to it so when your face hits the light, it makes a reflection, making you look more awake! Plus, This does not wash out your face in pictures as some products with a shimmer in it do.

My favorite concealer is Mac's Select Cover Up. This is always what I use to start off with because there is truly no texture to it. It gives medium to full coverage without looking too thick or fake and blends in perfectly. This product does run a bit light, so I would test it out or look at some swatches before purchasing. I an usually in a mac nc20, and this is a little light for me, but it works because I only use mine for undereye circles.

Mac's Mineralized Skin Finish Natural is a lifesaver. You may have heard me rave about this in previous posts, but I adore this. It gives you the perfect amount of coverage without looking like a powder, and it still lets the natural glow of your skin show through while controlling oils and staying on all day! For this, I go from a light medium to a light plus depending on what time of the year it is. If you are looking for a pressed powder that looks super natural with buildable coverage, here it is.

Thanks for reading, and comment below on what posts you want me to do next! Also, what is your go to routine for undereye circles? Is anyone as obsessed with the Mineralized Skin Finish as I am? Also, fell free to ask me any product questions in the comments!

Hot Hot Hot Hot Pink!

In my nail polish collection, I have waaaaay too many dull colors. Infact, I don't really have any super bright nail polish at all. So, for the past week or so I have been on the hunt to find a super bright hot pink, and believe it or not, OPI doesn't have what I'm looking for. I also checked out Essie, but that didn't have it either. Then, amazingly I think I found it. It's from a company I haven't really ever heard of before. It's from New York Nails.
I think it would be perfect if it was only a little lighter. It's too dark. But then I also found this one.But the issue is, I want it to be lighter!
But then, I decided to look at the OPI website one more time, and I think I found it!
Its called Paz-itively Hot Bright Pink. It doesn't look very bright in the picture, but the name of it says it's bright, so I hope it ends up super bright on my nails, but I'll have to wait and see. If you have any suggestions, please comment and tell me!
Bye for now!

Not So Neon

Hey everyone!

One of my latest posts was on how to wear colored eyeshadows tastefully. Now I am going the other way, I have been loving neutrals! Some neutral colors have very interesting tints to them, there are so many ways you can wear them! A while back I did a post featuring my favorite neutrals from mac, and I still love those, this is going to be on how to spice up any basic neutral eye!

If I could have one color to use, it would have to be a brown with a little shimmer. When creating a look for the eyes, depth is essential. This will work as a crease color, outer corner, and even as a liner is you want to smudge it. Both Patina or Bronze from mac cosmetics would work for this, they both have a frost finish which means that they have a little bit of shimmer in it, which ends up looking like a soft sheen when blended. Here I have patina, one of my favorite natural browns.

If you want more of a smokey effect, that works well on all eye colors. Take a 239 mac brush and stipple patina all over your lid. Then take a 217 and using small circular motions, blend mystery eyeshadow into your crease. This looks amazing if you smudge a bit onto your outer corner, just be sure to blend!

When you are creating a look, you want a balance. Obviously make sure it is even of both sides, but a balance between shadows and light. Any area that you naturally see a shadow, like the hollow of your cheekbone. For more on contouring the face, check out my last post!

Last but not least, light is just as important. I would go with something that has a hint of shimmer in it. I love mac's Crystal Avalanche, it has a light pearl to it that looks amazing in the inner corners of your eyes and as a "spotlight" highlight in the center of your lid. You could also use this to highlight the brow bone if you want a lifted affect.

I hope you enjoyed this basic neutral eye that can be super natural or smokey depending on how much product you apply! This look is very versatile, you can never have enough neutrals! At least that is what I keep telling myself as an excuse for another trip to the mac counter...

Keep a look out for a brush basics post, along with a water pollution awareness post. Feel free to comment me any post ideas, thanks for reading!

Nicki Minaj Nail Polish Collection!

By the way, I love the dress Nicki is wearing. It looks like it's made out of metal. I wonder if it is...
                                                                    Hello Readers!

So we all know that Nicki Minaj loves crazy colors, and she definelty shows that in her new nail polish collection for OPI.
I am a nail painting addict, so when I found out that one of my favorite artist was making a nail polish collection, I checked it out right away. The colors will definetly brighten up your nails, and one thing I love about them is that the only dark color,is  the purple crackle/shatter.

Probably my favorite one would have to be either the green or the blue. They are both so bright! I love bright colors for my nails, because more people notice them then if you were wearing a dull color. But, dull colors are also very pretty too.

There are two sparkely ones. A plain grey sparkley one, and a multi-colored sparkle one. I personally love sparkley nail polish. the only flaw is that is that is it almost impossible to remove with nail polish remover! You have to scrub really hard with the cotton ball, and after you have gotten one nail clean, you have already used the cotton ball so much you have to get another one. So if you plan on wearing this, make sure you are ok with it on for a loooong time.

I hope you liked this post! Please comment, follow, and tell us your reaction at the bottom of this post. if you like this blog, be sure to tell your friends about it. We ♥ our readers!

Shoe Review!

Hey everyone!

Glitter Girl and I had a very convenient encounter when picking out new shoes at Von Maur. We were giggling our way through the store and found some really adorable shoes along the way! I got these because I thought they were great basics for the season, and they were really cute!

First I got these Cole Haan flats. I adore these, you can wear these without having to go through that painful first day to break them in! It is a very soft gold leather with a patent cap toe with a strap across it. As a bonus, they have Nike air technology which makes them even more comfy! I would love to see these with some denim shorts and a white tunic cinched in at the waist. Think of these with wooden bangles and a huge statement necklace...

Okay, these may be some of the strangest shoes I have ever seen, but I love their quirkiness! They are the Carlos by Carlos Santana saratoga stitched flats. They have a ribbon detail at the toe which adds an interesting contrast to the wrapped ribbon trim. These would be really fun to add a simple outfit to dress it up in a fun way. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like these before! I just can't figure out the print: maybe a metallic camouflage?

My last pair is the Born Molly Side Bow flats. I got this really deep bronze brown that has an unusual tint to it. They remind me of mac's rose gold pigment, even though it is discontinued it is still one of my favorites! Plus, I really love the bow off to the side.

Before I wrap up this post, I would like to address an issue that is affecting families everywhere. Glitter Girl and I have been working on something that really informed us on how lucky we are to have clean, purified water, just by turning a handle. I will do a more detailed post on this soon, it is important to raise awareness of this. Just remember: the less polluted the water is, the less it costs to get purified. The less it costs to get purified, the more money you can save. And when I mean save, I really mean spend it on shoes. : )

Thank you for reading, comment down below on your favorite shoes for spring, and any questions that you want me to answer in my upcoming post on polluted water! Thanks for reading, our readers are the best!

Fishtail Braids!

My favorite thing to do with my hair is a fishtail braid! They are gorgeous! So, here are some instructions on how to do a fishtail braid.
First, Put your hair in a low pony tail, and use an elastic you don't really care about. You can do it in the back or on eitehr side, it doesn't really matter.

Second, split your pony tail into two parts. Keep them seperate, but hold both sides in one hand.

Third, choose one side, then take a bit of hair from the far end of that side, and bring it over to the other half of hair. Ok, now your must do that do the other side!
Now repeat, until the braid gets as long as you want it.
Now, tie an elastic at the bottom of the braid to hold it in place, and cut the elastic at the top of the braid.
Enjoy your fishtail braid!

Beauty Basics: Contouring

Hey everyone!

I have been obsessed with contouring lately. It fascinates me that you can look like you lost ten pounds by just adding shadows! I do not do this daily, but if you want that extra punch to any look, try this trick!

This is also what professional makeup artists always do. Even if your makeup is super natural for a day, you can add this step for a natural touch that looks great on everyone. Here is what I use!

First I start with Benefit's Hoola bronzer. Not only is the packaging adorable, it is the perfect matte color that is great for contouring.  Start by taking a 169 large angled contouring brush from mac. Find the hollow of your cheekbone and place the bronzer there, don't worry if it looks too harsh, we will blend it later! Start with less product on the brush, you can always add more later. If you want to, you can place this on the sides of your face for added shadows.

Next you want to add the highlighter. My favorite is soft and gentle mineralized skin finish by mac, you can also use this as an eyeshadow, by the way! I use a 165 mac brush, but this is discontinued so you can use the 188, but any highlighter brush will work. I go in a "C" by starting below the center of the eye on the top of your cheekbone. After that, take the brush and go up the cheekbone and finish below your brow bone for a light sheen that looks amazing in any lighting, especially in pictures!

Now you can blend it out, making sure that there are no noticeable harsh lines. I would love to see this with a slightly winged out liner and a fun brighter lip for spring. Maybe coral! I love spring and summer, you can get away with adding a little color!

I have been wearing my hair in the soft curls tutorial I posted, and I have been loving it! It takes me around five minutes to complete it at the most, and it hold he whole day without hairspray, keeping it very light. Plus, if it starts to annoy me, I can put it in a messy bun and have one or two curls in the front to frame my face.

Wow this is a long post! thanks for reading, be sure to follow and feel free to comment with any questions! Big thanks to our follows and supporters, you keep Forever Fuchsia going!

Snakeskin Print

Just imagene these in pink. I could't find a picture of any pink ones.

Women's Angelfish Slip-On Boat ShoeI recently bought two pairs of shoes at Van maur. they are a pair of Sperry Topsiders, and a pair of Kenneth Cole Reactions. But when I got them home, I was looking at them closely, and I realized tham they were both snakeskin prints.
These are some reasons that I like snakeskin print:
1. It can made more colors than cheetah. Sheetah print always tends to have brown in it, which get boring after awhile.

2. It's more unique that cheetah print or zebra print. Not many people go for snakeskin print.

3. It more noticable. ( I don't even know if noticeable is a word.) What i mean is, people are more likely to notice it and say something, then if it is cheetah print or zebra print.

Overall, I think if you want to make a fashion statement, go for snakeskin.

Tips and Tricks

Hey everyone!

Here is a new series that I am going to do with some of my secrets that I have picked up along the way! Here is a tip on how to get more volume in your hair without having to tease it. Teasing breaks your hair, and here are some of my ways that I use!

So the blow dryer I like to use is the T3 featherweight. I do not use this a ton, but when I do it works wonders! This may seem strange, but I promise, it gets the job done really well. I flip my head over so my hair is hanging down and then dry it that way! This makes it very sleek and gives it a ton on volume.

My next trick is to use a hairspray that has the same, how to describe, goal in hair life as you do! Bed Head TIGI superstar hairspray may be a bit of an odd concept at first, it is not your usual hairspray. For a ton of volume, you can flip your hair upside down and spray.

Okay, I know that some of you just want to get it done and don't have the time to spend on other ways, so if you want to use a teasing comb, get a good one! This is a lot kinder to your hair, it will not break as much, I have this and it hardly ever breaks any hair, it just works really well! I do have to use a certain way, so let me explain that!

My key to this is you have to wait to spray it until the end. I also hold it so the teeth of the comb are facing down, it will give you the most natural look while not harming your hair! You don't want to spray it because when the hairspray hardens, you will only break more hair by tearing it out. These are my go to ways to getting tons of volume, try them out and tell me if they worked for you! Thanks for reading!

Surf Spray

Hey Everyone!

Today I was asked for a product recommendation for a sea salt spray. The first one that came to my mind was the Bumble and Bumble surf spray! I tried this last summer, and I fell in love. It gives you these amazing tousled waves, and it gives you more of a natural look. Not only is it somewhat more of a matte look, which gives an interesting twist, but it also adds a ton of body to fine hair.

I feel like the more I grow my hair out, the thinner it gets. I tease the back and sides sometimes to make it look fuller, but not only does it break the hair, it can look way to fake. This gives it the perfect amount of body without being too much!

It is nice to look like you just get back from surfing every day. It gives it that naturally windblown effect, back when I was going through the super tight curls stage, I was amazed to find that I loved how my hair looked at the end of the day. After all, a full day of shopping can be tiring, and I bet I walked a good couple of miles in heels, so I count it as a workout! Okay, don't quote me on that one, but it can be hard work when done right! Anyways, I was using my bouncy "I am so excited to check out the latest mac collection" walk, and my curls fell out to these perfect waves. I had forgotten to use hairspray that morning but that turned out to be in my favor!

I was trying to get that look and found out the only thing that worked was flipping my hair all around until my hair was just how I wanted it. Many headaches and Advil pills later, I decided it just was not worth it. Oh gosh, I just go on and on.

So, my final statement to my little ramble here is this is a great product that I would highly recommend. Here are my tips for using this spray...

Work with it. You will soon find you perfect amount depending on your hair type and hair thickness. They did add seaweed and kelp extract to help moisturize, but all sea salt sprays are somewhat drying. This is the most moisturizing of them all, so I would recommend this over any other spray. Here is my secret: Chi silk infusion. This stuff is pricey, but I think it is worth it. For a cheaper alternative, I love redken satin wear. This not only works as a blow drying lotion, but it also makes your hair super smooth. Honestly, these are my favorites, but any deep conditioner will do.

Okay, I am writing way to much on this post, thanks for reading! I better wrap it up now, beware of more of these posts in the future! Feel free to comment with questions or just to say hi. : )

Thanks for reading, you guys are the best!

Be Bold!

Hey Everyone!

Okay, I admit, I will not wear super funky looks when it comes to makeup in public. I don't know what it is, I wear them all the time in the summer, but I found a way to wear fun colors without going overboard!

First, I love mac freshwater. It is this shimmery clear blue, it is so pretty to use on the lashing when you tightline your eyes with a black liner. This gives a really cool affect, because you are combing them without blending.

Mac lucky green is interesting. Green may be the hardest color to pull off, but if you get a good brush, it is easy! This has a golden tint to it, so it works really well on the lower lashline. I use a 219 pencil brush to add a little sheen!

Mac Goldmine makes the perfect lid color when blended out! It is a soft gold that just gives a slight tint. I like to apply it with a 213 and buff it out with a 224.

I love mac contrast! It makes the perfect pop of color and liner at the same time! I use it with a 266 brush, and if I want it darker I can always lightly wet the brush.

I hope you enjoyed my post on how to wear bright colors, feel free to comment with any questions!

Switch It!

Hey everyone!

Happy Easter! I was doing a fun look for Easter, and realized it was time. Not time to deep clean all of my brushes, not time to reorganize my closet, but it was time to switch out my foundation! I have been using studio sculpt for the winter, and it has a very thick, full coverage consistency. I mainly use it as a concealer and then blend the rest of it out where I need it. Now I need a lighter coverage, so this is what I will be using next!

Now I need something with a decent amount of coverage but will help with my changing skin tone as I get more tan. This is why I am switching to the Matchmaster foundation from mac! It will change according to your skin's pigmentation, and it has a much lighter coverage. It is also buildable, so you have more control of where you want more or less foundation.

I hope you enjoyed, I will do another foundation update soon! Thanks for reading!

Happy Easter!!

So today is Easter and I like to do my nails for each holiday. I think the best Easter symbol is Easter eggs. So here are some instructions on Easter egg nails.
So first, paint your nails a light color like baby blue, or pale pink. I suggest doing two coats of it so that the color looks better.

Then, take a q-tip and dip it in yellow. Make a big oval on each of your nails.

Finally, take another color, and put it at the very bottom of the oval.

If you want, I suggest putting a layer of clear nail polish over it.
Also, if you want to get snazzy, you can do each Easter egg a different color!

I hope you like this post! Just FYI Forever Fuchsia is going through some construction so our URL is becoming www.foreverfuchsia.com in three days, and we are also getting a logo. So for the next three days some features of the blog might not be working. But these changes are for the best!

Bold Blondies!

I was at CVS yesterday, and I had to get some shampoo. I usually get Pantene's flat to volume shampoo, but I decided I wanted to try something new. So I got John Frieda's Sheer Blonde shampoo. It is for blondes only, and it is supposed to gradually lighten your blonde hair, and bring out your blonde highlights. I also am going to try out the condidtioner too, because it helps get better results. I got the sample size tube, and it was around 2 dollars for each. But they also come in normal sized shampoo/conditioner bottles. The crazy thing is, the shampoo is yellow!
Then I started to look at the John Frieda website, and I saw that they also have the same thing, but for brunettes, and people with red hair! They are called Brilliant Brunette,(it makes your hair browner) and Radiant Red (it makes your hair redder).
John Frieda also has some other hair care products. it has frizz-ease, full repair, glaze, luxurious volume, precision foam color, and root awakening.

Only Online

Hey everyone!

I had a moment yesterday that made me think when I was obsessed with shopping online. Don't get me wrong, I love shopping in an actual store, especially when I am with friends, but there is just something about the buzz of online shopping. I can't put my finger on what I miss the most, the excitement for the package, waiting for days before I placed my order to make sure I had everything I wanted in the cart, or running outside to greet the delivery person to receive my package.

I know this may sound odd, but I really enjoyed shopping for cosmetics online. You get a much better idea by testing out the products in the store, but I really loved the thrill of getting them! I love shopping for makeup, online or in person, but I do love quite a few sites online!

Okay, you expected this. Who does not love mac? It is my happy place, they have so many colors and the pigmentation is amazing! You have seen my reviews in many other posts, don't get me started on here...

I love Sephora! They feature a ton of amazing brands, and also keep up with the trends. They have great sales too, which you do not usually find in high end makeup stores!

BH cosmetics has the most amazing palettes. I love their stuff, you can place mass orders without breaking the bank!

Okay, I know Lush does not sell makeup, but they do sell some amazing soaps! I am addicted.

coastal scents has some great palettes, they are usually the same as bh cosmetics. They do have something that bh does not have, and that is an amazing line of liquid foundations!

I hope you enjoyed this post, be sure to comment and follow!

Viva Glam

Nicki Minaj (that famous rapper) and Ricki Martin (a former pop star) have made a lipstick, and lip conditioner for MAC Cosmetics.

Nicki made the listick, and she made it her signature pink color, and Ricky Martin made the clear lip conditioner.
These items came out on February 15, and the Lipstick costs 14.50, and the lip conditioner is 15.00. The profits will go towards helping men and women with AIDS.

I think I will get this and try it out, although I don't know what I could wear the lipstick to. It's definetly not appropriate for school, and anyways, I prefer ligloss for school. But it could be fun for the weekends, or if you are in a show. Or, if you feel like dressing up like Nick Minaj for a day... Also, the conditioner would make a great lipstick base.
